ELEFANTE PUBLISHERS (INDONESIA) TEAMS WITH KREST SOUTH AFRICA!

KREST Publishers is happy to announce an exciting collaboration with Elefante Publishers (Pernebit Elefante) based in Indonesia.

In the face of a devastating global pandemic, the world needs to pull together now more than ever. Elefante Publishers and KREST Publishers are doing this in our own little way, using a shared passion - the universal love of books! KREST and Elefante are joining forces to write and publish a book together, that will be available as 2 translated international editions!

Want a chance to be a part of it?...

ABOUT THE COLLABORATION

The two publishing houses will work together to plan the spectacular story line of this special book. KREST South Africa will be responsible for choosing 3 South African authors, and Elefante Indonesia will choose 3 talented Indonesian authors. Together, these 6 authors will write the book for us, each getting to write a part of it over a few months. The book, with some parts in English by the South Africans, and some parts in Bahasa Indonesia by the Indonesians, will be translated entirely into both languages. The Bahasa Indonesia edition will be published by the Elefante team to be available in Indonesia. The English version will be handled by the KREST Publishers team, and will be available in South Africa.

This project was suggested by the lovely team at Elefante Publishers. KREST is so honoured to be part of it and to represent our country in this way. The project reminds us that even though we are thousands of miles apart, and have different languages and cultures, we are all still one world and we can achieve exciting things when we pull together.

KREST would like to use this opportunity to proudly display our South African talent. If you are a South African writer who might like to write part of this exciting book, follow the application guidelines below. We will be choosing 3 authors for this project. It can never hurt to have a publisher know your name either way!...

WORK WITH US ON THIS PROJECT

This collaboration will be exciting and - most importantly - lots of fun! It's a way for the two nationalities to get to know each other better and to make great friends across the globe. You'll get to liaise with the other writers, participate together in some marketing adventures, and have your work published at the end of it all. 😊 We would like to work with you if you are a team player with a flair for words and a love for your country!

Requirements:

- must have a valid South African address

- must have a valid South African bank account (for royalties)

- must have access to WhatsApp, email, and Zoom (to liase with the team every now and then)

- should ideally have some social media accounts to help with promotional items (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter...)

- should be able to meet writing deadlines every 2-3 weeks, but nothing too strenuous as we understand your time constraints. We will give you the genre, characters, and detailed guidelines - you just need to write it for us over a few months!

-  Any individual of any age, gender, race, culture, social status etc. is encouraged to apply - the aim of the collaboration is to promote 'unity in diversity'!

APPLICATIONS CLOSE 10 NOVEMBER 2020

Send an email to submissions@krestpublishers.co.za with the following:

- In the main email body, tell us more about yourself. Let us know where about in SA you are from, how old you are, what you are up to currently, and your previous writing work (short stories, poetry, books etc.) Don't forget to mention which social media platforms you have and if you are willing to share promotional material on it.

- Please attach a writing sample as a Microsoft Word document. The sample should be an essay of no more than 2 typed pages, in the genres of EITHER romance, thriller, or drama. You may decide your own story line, characters, whether it will be narrative or descriptive etc...

- Don't forget to include contact details so we can get back to you! We always try our level best to communicate personally, but sometimes publishing houses resemble something out of Wall Street and there's never a free second. We will try to respond to each applicant personally, but if you have not heard from us by 5 December 2020, another applicant has been chosen. But at least we'll have your details on hand - recently, two of our annual short story competition entrants were offered publishing deals based on the quality of their entries!

Good luck everyone!

...AND DON'T FORGET THAT APPLICATIONS CLOSE 10 NOVEMBER 2020 😀
