KREST AUTHORS NOMINATED FOR BOOK AWARDS

As a publishing house, we would like to take this moment to publicly congratulate two of our authors that have been nominated for book awards for their respective titles.

KREST Publishers published "Secrets and Lies" by Paul Zunckel in July 2020. The book has now been nominated for Best English Novel (Male Author) in the Book Behind Awards taking place this year.

"Yellow Roses" by Sarvdasha Sewlal was launched in December 2020. Sarvdasha is now nominated for Best Female English Poet in the Book Behind Awards.

SECRETS AND LIES - PAUL ZUNCKEL

A war-based adult fiction novel with drama, romance, and crime, comes from Ballito-based Paul Zunckel.

Zunckel himself served with the SADF in the South African Border War. Additionally, he worked on a cargo ship, travelled around Africa for Safmarine, and obtained a microlight pilot’s license. With a Bachelor of Arts degree and a wealth of adventure behind his name, Zunckel made the perfect writer for this war-set story.

Secrets and Lies is a carefully-written, multi-layered plot set during the seventies and eighties. While taking place in an African war setting, the story is really a deep exploration of the characters and the way their lives interlink as they love, lose and betray each other. Fans of Wilbur Smith will love this offering from a fresh voice to the genre.

You can show your support of Paul Zunckel by purchasing a paperback copy of his book off the KREST Online Bookstore at R180, available for delivery anywhere in the world (eBook R70). Or vote for Paul by SMSing "TBBA BENM45" to 34877 (run entirely by the Book Behind Awards.)

YELLOW ROSES - SARVDASHA SEWLAL

Sarvdasha is a multi-talented 27-year-old who has studied in the innovative field of engineering at UKZN Howard College. More familiar with poetry than prose, Sarvdasha had taken a step out of her comfort zone when, for the KREST 2020 short story competition, she had written a unique piece that was a combination of story and poetry. Despite being a newcomer to the formal publishing world, Dasha’s piece won third place overall in the competition. The story that wooed the publisher’s heart and got her a publishing contract for "Yellow Roses"can be read here.

Sarvdasha's life-long dream had come to reality as she released the anthology, "Yellow Roses", in December 2020. The focus is on a yellow rose. Simple from afar, but as you dive deeper and begin to break through each layer, there is a different story waiting to be told. Sarvdasha's first anthology shows the same characteristic when looking at each poem individually. The author speaks of different realities in each new piece. Some speak of love, some of failure, some of poverty, and some of abuse, all of which to are so prominent in our world today.

You can show your support of Sarvdasha Sewlal by purchasing a paperback copy of her book off the KREST Online Bookstore at R150, available for delivery anywhere in the world. Or vote for Sarvdasha by SMSing "TBBA BFEP62" to 34877 (run entirely by the Book Behind Awards.)
