KREST FAMILY WELCOMES DEBUT POETS

KREST Publishers, based in sunny South Africa and owned by telecommunications company LOCHAN MEDIA PTY LTD, welcomes two new writers. The publishing imprint was formed in March 2020 and has grown to happily provide a catapult for local writers into an industry that is otherwise hard to break into. While the imprint works with many writers who are familiar to the world of words, KREST is always excited to take chances on rising talent.  Having spotted this in two South African Durbanite debuts, KREST Publishers has happily welcomed new poets Kwanele Sifunda and Mervin M. Francis to the family.

'LOVE AND LIES' BY KWANELE SIFUNDA

Sifunda is a passionate 24 year old from Morningside in Durban. Schooling years were spent in Hilton College and he is now studying sports management at CPUT.

'Love and Lies' is his debut poetry anthology, yet Sifunda writes as if he is seasoned in the trade. The publisher describes this anthology as a work of intrigue, defying everything one thought they knew about the art of poetry. Unlike the traditional art form, 'Love and Lies' will be modern and rule-breaking. For starters, the book will leave behind the age-old idea that anthologies need to be between 30 and 100 poems long, this one encompassing a total of 136 poems. The poems are progressive - some just a few impactful lines long, some untitled, and some illustrated. The author describes the work as 'an outpouring of emotions'. The book is a journey - through love, heartbreak, and the rise of oneself. Sifunda wanted to share this journey with the world. He hopes that the words will be the healing and peace someone needed to have.

Like the illustrated work of modern poets like Rupi Kaur? You're going to love this one. 'Love and Lies' is estimated to be an October release. Look out for the illustration previews soon to come!

'BOOK OF DREAMS' BY MERVIN M. FRANCIS

Francis is a KZN North Coast resident. He has taken up a career with the Toyota brand. Interests are surprising and varied - he enjoys the wholesome romance of Hallmark movies as much as he enjoys as a good game of golf.

'Book of Dreams' is a short poetry anthology. The publishers are bringing this one out as a hardcover edition, in lovely gloss finishes throughout. The writer's work comprises mostly romance pieces - transporting one back to a time where lovers spouted poetry to each other, and dusk was the sweet place where romance was infinitely possible. Francis describes the words on his page as the physical embodiment of all the love and joy in his heart. The book was written as a means of fulfillment.

The book is a self-publishing venture for Francis. The process will soon draw to completion during a mid-September release, just 8 weeks after being commissioned to the publisher.
